Arsenal Have Shown The ‘Most Interest’ In £73m Rated La Liga Star But Face ‘Big Problem’ In Finalising Deal

Arsenal are the club that have shown the “most interest” in signing Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan based newspaper claims the Gunners would be interested in snapping up the 28-year-old but there is a “big problem” in any deal being agreed.

Coutinho has asked his agent for his loan at Bayern Munich to be extended until the end of August so he can play for the Bundesliga club in the Champions League.

The former Liverpool player has never won the competition and would like to have the opportunity to win it this campaign.

Whether allowing Coutinho to extend his loan would be a problem for the Gunners, it is doubtful. It is thought the new Premier League season will start in mid-September.

However, the real issue will be the cost of the transfer. Barca are still said to be holding out for at least €80m (£73m); a figure which Arsenal can not afford to pay.
