Arsenal have been tracking Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, according to the Daily Mail.

The English tabloid claims that both the Gunners and Newcastle are keeping tabs on the Spanish international. Mikel Arteta’s side are expected to be in the market for a forward, with the likes of Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby and Barcelona’s Raphinha having been linked in recent days, but it appears that they are casting their net wider.

Williams has been in good form this season, having scored nine goals and contributed six assists in 39 appearances. The fact that he has a £50m release clause could also make him a more attractive target than potential alternatives.

Reports have put Diaby’s valuation between €75m (£65m) and €100m (£87m), while Raphinha’s price tag is set at €80m (£70m).

Considering Williams is only 20 years of age and has bags of potential, Arsenal may believe he is better value for money. We shall see if he ends at the top of the London club’s shortlist of targets.
