Arsenal Have Rejected The Chance To Sign La Liga Ace They Once Bid 92M For

Arsenal have turned down the opportunity to sign Atletico Madrid attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar this summer, according to reports in the French media.

The 26-year-old had been deemed surplus to requirements by Diego Simeone’s side but both the Gunners and Everton have decided against making an offer for him.

Lemar was famously the subject of a €100m (£92m) bid from Arsenal back in 2017, but the player was not interested in making the switch to the Emirates at the time.

The France international instead moved to Atletico for €70m a year later, although he has never really made an impression during his four seasons in La Liga, scoring just seven times in 103 league appearances.

It is now believed that due to a lack of interest in Lemar, Atletico will offer him a contract extension but he will have to take a 50% pay cut if he wants to remain at the Wanda Metropolitano.
