Arsenal Have Ozil & Casillas On Radar

According to Metro, Arsenal have been alerted by the situation of Real Madrid pair Mezut Ozil and Iker Casillas, latter of whom was again made to wait on the bench by new manager Carlo Ancelotti in Madrid’s 0-1 win against Grenada in the second round of Liga BBVA matches.

Arsene Wenger has been quiet about his targets over the past week, as we enter the final few days of the summer transfer window. The French boss will be confident, after his side picked themselves up from the opening day defeat in the Barclays Premier League, with two away victories against Fenerbache and city rivals Fulham. The impressive display of the squad will motivate the club to add more quality and challenge for honors this season.

Ozil began his career as a youth player at native club Schalke 04, where he developed his game as an influential player on the ball. In 2006, he was offered his first professional contract by the club, and he accepted the challenge. His first year at the club saw him make 19 appearances, and he quickly earned a good reputation in the league. Werder Bremen came calling, and Ozil signed up with the club in 2008. The 24-year old played 71 matches in two seasons, scoring 13 goals. Ozil earned recognition among the elite clubs of Europe, after performing well for the German national side in the FIFA World Cup 2010. Madrid came calling after the tournament, and Ozil signed a long term contract with the Spanish giants and if you believe the latest reports coming out of Madrid then the German star is going nowhere but stranger things have happened.

Casillas, on the other hand, is a player that needs no introduction. He has been one of Madrid’s most loyal servants ever since he joined the club as a young child in 1990. The 32-year old played for the Madrid C and Madrid B side before he took up the challenge of the senior side. Having played 476 matches for the club, the Spanish international skipper will add a world of experience at Arsenal.

It remains to be seen who Arsenal end up signing before the window shuts next week, but signs are positive for the Gunners.
