Arsenal Have ‘Meeting Scheduled’ To Try And Sign £18m Rated Portuguese Ace

Following claims last week that Arsenal had abandoned their attempts to sign Sporting Lisbon winger Joelson Fernandes, a new report from Portugal now says that there could still be a chance for the Gunners to snap up the teenager.

O Jogo, who are generally more reliable than the other Portuguese tabloids, state that Arsenal have a “meeting scheduled” to discuss the possibility of signing the 17-year-old.

It was previously reported that the Gunners would have to pay Joelson’s £41m release clause but it appears that the London club are looking to offer closer to £18m.

Arsenal are believed to be looking to exploit the player’s contract situation, with there being a dispute between the winger’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, and Sporting over the size of the Joelson’s new buyout fee.

At this stage, you would have to say that his club are unlikely to accept such a low offer but if contract talks don’t progress, the situation may change.
