Arsenal ‘Have Eyes’ On ‘Next Bruno Fernandes’ Who Scored 23 Goals Last Season

Arsenal are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Pedro Goncalves, according to 90min.com.

The website claims the Gunners “have eyes” on the 22-year-old, who scored 23 goals and provided four assists as Sporting won the Portuguese league title last campaign.

Many in the media have already been comparing Goncalves to Bruno Fernandes, with both having occupied the same position in Sporting’s first team. He has even been linked with a move to join his fellow countryman at Manchester United.

However, the two players are not completely identical, with Goncalves more of a finisher than a playmaker. With the ability to play wide on the right as well, the Portuguese international could be seen as a perfect replacement for Martin Odegaard.

Real Madrid are thought to be keen on keeping the Norwegian international this summer so Arsenal have been forced to look at alternatives. Leicester’s James Maddison, Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar have all been mentioned as potential options in recent days, along with Goncalves.
