Arsenal Have Enquiry Rejected To Take Ivory Coast Star On Loan

Manchester United have rejected an enquiry from Arsenal for defender Eric Bailly, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners wanted to take the Ivory Coast international on loan for the rest of the season, with an option to purchase the player in the summer.

United are said to be not entertaining any bids for Bailly and are not prepared to strengthen one of their rivals in the battle for a top-four finish.

The centre-back’s contract expires in 2020 but the Red Devils do have an option to extend his stay for a further two years.

However, it is believed United won’t trigger the extension until a new permanent manager is appointed.

Under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Bailly has made just one appearance in the 4-1 win over Bournemouth last month. He was sent off during the match and only returned from suspension for the game against Brighton last weekend.

The 24-year-old has struggled for form since arriving from Villarreal in a £30m deal two and a half years ago, but the Ivorian is said to be keen to prove himself at Old Trafford.
