Arsenal Handed Transfer Setback With Colombian Star Determined To Remain In Germany

Bayern Munich attacking midfielder James Rodriguez will not leave the German club in January, according to ESPN FC.

A source close to the player told the website that the Colombian international has every intention of seeing out his two-year loan spell at the Allianz Arena.

It has been reported that Arsenal were keen to take Rodriguez on loan for the remainder of the season. It would have involved Bayern cutting his loan short by six months and sending him back to Real Madrid.

The Gunners would then have paid Real the remaining £3m of the loan fee owed to them by Bayern. It seems, however, that the 27-year-old is keen to stay put.

Rodriguez has been out with a knee problem since November, but he was selected in the starting line up for five of the club’s first eleven league games before his injury.

The Colombian could seal a £37m move to Bayern at the end of the season if he convinces Bayern officials with his performances in the second half of the campaign.
