Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is “keen” on moving to Arsenal, according to Goal‘s Gunners’ correspondent Charles Watts.
The Ghanaian international is interested in a switch to the Premier League but a lot will depend on the London club freeing up funds to trigger the player’s €50m (£45m) release clause.
The Gunners have already tried using Matteo Guendouzi in a part-exchange offer but they have been told by Atletico that they will only accept a straight cash bid. That means Partey will have to be patient as the Premier League side look at offloading some fringe players.
In addition to Guendouzi, seven others, including Lucas Torreira, Mesut Ozil, Sokratis, Mohamed Elneny, Calum Chambers, Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac will be sold if buyers can be found.
However, Arsenal’s best solution could be using Alexandre Lacazette. Atletico are believed to be interested in the Frenchman and offering the striker as part of the deal to sign Partey may well be something that the Gunners consider later on in the transfer window.
