Arsenal Handed Double Injury Boost Ahead Of Leicester City Clash

Arsenal have been handed some good injury news ahead of next Monday’s game against Leicester City.

Playmaker Mesut Ozil has been suffering from back spasms but the club’s medical department have reported that the 30-year-old is back in full training, seven days ahead of the match against the Foxes.

Another player who has returned to fitness is Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The teenager has been out since August after breaking his left fibula during the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on the opening day of the season.

There are two Gunners’ stars, however, that are touch and go for the game against Leicester. Danny Welbeck had to withdraw from the England squad with a hamstring injury and will be assessed ahead of Monday night’s match.

Petr Cech, who has been out since being taken off before half-time against Watford at the end of the last month, is close to a first-team return after his own hamstring problem.

Arsenal still have two centre-backs out of contention, though.  Laurent Koscielny’s long recovery from an Achilles tendon injury means he is likely to be out for another month. Meanwhile, Konstantinos Mavropanos is out with a groin issue until the end of October.
