Arsenal Goal Hero Dismisses Talk That He Was Set To Leave The Club This Summer

Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette said he never considered leaving the club, despite reports linking him with a move away from the Emirates this summer.

The Frenchman scored the winning goal against Cardiff yesterday and put in a man of the match performance by also providing an assist for his strike partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Asked about the possibility of departing London, Lacazette dismissed the rumours out of hand. He was quoted by the Express as saying:

“I don’t know who said this stuff, but I am at one of the best clubs in London and I am happy at Arsenal”

“It’s always going to be hard to be in the first XI at a club like this, but I always keep fighting and working.”

The partnership between Lacazette and Aubameyang looks really promising. Despite originally being bought as rivals for the lone striker role, the pair have bonded and looked to have a really good understanding on the pitch.

It will be interesting to see whether Unai Emery persists with two up top after the international break. It certainly gives the team a potent attacking threat in the final third.

The Gunners face Newcastle next up, and I don’t see why the manager would choose to change the frontline, especially after the problems they caused Cardiff at the weekend.
