Arsenal Given Huge Mbappe Boost

Arsenal have been given a massive bit of hope in their pursuit of Monaco wonder-kid Kylian Mbappe. The 18-year-old is wanted by clubs all around the world, but reports in France today claim that Mbappe’s close relationship with Arsene Wenger could be a factor in the forward moving to the Emirates.

Arsenal are among a long list of clubs in pursuit of Mbappe, with Real Madrid the favourites to land the Frenchman. It was claimed earlier in the week that Los Blancos had agreed a deal to sign the youngster, but Monaco have since denied that an agreement is in place.

However, L’Equipe claim that Arsenal should not yet be counted out of the race for the starlet, as Arsene Wenger’s influence could prove to be a big factor in any transfer.

It is understood that the pair have held talks about a potential move to the Premier League this summer, and French news outlet claims that the 18-year-old’s close relationship with Wenger is stronger than that of the other managers he has spoken to.

Of course, there is the factor of whether or not Arsenal can afford the fees required to sign Mbappe. It is rumoured that the Frenchman could cost anything from £160m upwards. However, the report from L’Equipe claims that Arsenal do have the financial muscle to compete with its rivals for Mbappe’s signature, although the lack of Champions League football could be a downside to any potential transfer.
