Arsenal Get Serious About Suarez With Increased Bid

The Gunners have been heavily linked with Luis Suarez after they suddenly emerged as the front runners for his signature in the last two weeks. Arsenal’s need for a striker is well known now and they have been linked with a dearth of strikers across Europe in the last few months. Suarez is the latest name which is being linked with a switch to London now.

With Arsenal having a massive transfer war chest waiting for them to take advantage of, they will not have any problems matching the astronomical transfer fees required to lure top quality players. Therefore, a move to the Emirates Stadium for Suarez is very well within the realms of possibility. Also, with Arsenal having offloaded a number of fringe players, they have lightened their wage bill considerably which will enable them to provide funds and meet Suarez’s hefty wage demands.

This is exactly why Arsenal launched a massive opening bid of £30 million for him a couple of days ago, hoping that the fee would be enough to convince Liverpool to sell arguably their best player to their domestic rivals. However, that bid was immediately rejected by the Merseysiders, whose manager Brendan Rodgers is looking for a fee in the region of £40 million for the Uruguayan.

Arsenal have therefore stepped up their chase for the 26-year old as ESPN reports that they are now increasing their initial offer and putting together a £35 million bid, hoping that it would be enough this time around to get their target.

Suarez has clearly signaled his intentions of quitting Anfield to fulfill his ambitions of playing in the UEFA Champions League. Liverpool will most likely reject Arsenal’s second approach while hoping to get that £40 million at the risk of being stuck with an unhappy player at the club.

Do you see the new bid being accepted by Liverpool or are there other clubs willing to pay more as has been suggested like Chelsea and Real Madrid?
