Arsenal forward arrives in Italy ahead of Serie A switch

Arsenal forward Joel Campbell has flown to Italy to complete his last minute switch to Serie A side Frosinone.

Campbell had a medical with the Italian club yesterday, and now all is left is to agree personal terms.

The Italian transfer window closes tonight, meaning Campbell has until the end of the day to complete his move. He is expected to sign a three-year deal.

Earlier this summer, Arsenal boss Unai Emery hinted Campbell was one of three players – alongside David Ospina and Carl Jenkinson – who could leave The Emirates before the end of the month.

And the Spaniard’s prophecy has now almost come true, with Campbell set for Frosinone and David Ospina close to joining Napoli. Jenkinson however is now likely to remain at Arsenal after picking up an injury that could keep him out of action until January.

Campbell, 26, joined Arsenal in 2011, however failed to establish himself as a regular starer at The Emirates, spending most of his career with the club out on-loan.

The Costa Rica international has spent time with six different clubs including Olympiacos, Villarreal and Real Betis over the last eight seasons, the latter with whom he spent last season on-loan where he made just nine appearances and scored twice in an injury-hit season.
