REPORT: FIVE clubs interested in transfer for £50 million Arsenal striker

Several top clubs are reportedly lining up a bid for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun in the ongoing summer transfer window, according to a piece by the Daily Mail.

While Balogun was impressive while out on loan last season, he is reportedly demanding a spot in Arsenal’s first team – something the Gunners appear unwilling to give him.

Due to this, Arsenal will look to sell the player in the transfer window. Currently, he is valued at £50 million by the North London outfit, with numerous clubs circling. Let’s take a look at the interested parties and weigh up who has the greatest chance of signing him in the summer.

Who is interested in a move for Folarin Balogun?

According to the Mail, there are five clubs who are lining up to secure the American’s signature – AC Milan, Inter Milan, Marseille, Monaco and RB Leipzig.

Currently, none of these teams appear to have a lead in the race to bring Balogun on board. Nevertheless, both Monaco and Marseille could struggle to compete with the other three, as they have not qualified for the 2023/24 Champions League (although Marseille will enter the third qualifying round).

Despite this, following his success in France, Balogun could be keen on a return to Ligue 1 – it’s currently difficult to say where the 22-year-old might end up.

Should Arsenal sell Folarin Balogun in the summer transfer window?

For all his talents, Arsenal would probably be best served by letting go of Balogun in the ongoing transfer window. If he stays, he will command a regular place in the first team – it is difficult to justify picking him over the likes of Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus on a consistent basis.

Last season, Balogun scored 22 goals in 39 games while on loan at Reims. While this is an undeniably impressive tally, he is still unproven in the Premier League.

Over the course of his short career, Balogun has made just two appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal, scoring zero goals. It’s difficult to have a preference for him over Nketiah and Jesus, who are both proven goalscorers in England’s top flight.
