Arsenal fans wish Maitland-Niles a speedy recovery following horrific leg break

Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to wish defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles a speedy recovery after he suffered a fractured leg during the weekend’s defeat to Manchester City.

The 20-year-old was forced off after just 35 minutes during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat  following a clash with Kyle Walker.

And following the fixture it was revealed the youngster had sustained a nasty fracture to his left leg, which will keep him sidelined for up to two months.

A statement on the club’s official website from the medical staff states: “Ainsley has sustained a small fracture to his left fibula and will be out for six to eight weeks.”

Maitland-Niles made his professional debut for Arsenal at just the age of 17 back in 2014, and has since featured 39 times in all competitions for the Gunners, including 28 times last term in what was a terrific breakthrough season for the youngster.

The versatile defender started at left-back for Arsenal’s Premier League opener at the weekend, however will now be replaced by either Stephan Lichtsteiner or Nacho Monreal against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.
