Arsenal fans have been reacting to the news that the club is advancing plans to expand the Emirates Stadium to potentially 80,000 seats.
The Gunners entered the international break in a great position, one point clear from Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table. Mikel Arteta will hope they can continue their impressive form after the break when they come back with a short trip to Fulham.
However, Arsenal fans received some huge news this week during the break, revealing that Arsenal are planning to expand the Emirates Stadium to beyond 80,000 seats by 2028, which would make it the biggest stadium in the Premier League.

That’s our investment in the team done and dusted for the next several years then
Have to sell to fund the stadium expansion all sounds very familiar doesn’t it
How about stop filling the emirates with corporate tickets and get proper fans back in 60k is more than adequate

Wow! Haven’t won a title in over 20 years and looking to do this. What will they do when they finally win one. Just imagine what they’ll do if they ever win a Champions League title.

I remember right before Covid there where whispers coming out that KSE wanted to make The Emirates the first indoor stadium in the prem. Now with what they’ve learned from Real Madrids renovation, I would say it’ll be similar to the Bernabeu

We should go bigger. If there is a waiting list for season tickets, why not go to 100k?

How long would the redevelopment take?
According to Sky Sports, the plans could involve an initial expansion to 70,000 seats, before stretching to 80,000 by 2028. The same report says that it will be more of a redevelopment similar to Real Madrid, who extended the Bernabeu from 81,000 seats to 84,000 seats.
The aim would be to keep the vibe of the Emirates the same, so as not to damage but to enhance the matchday atmosphere.
Arsenal would do what Tottenham did for a season when their new stadium was being built, and would play their home games at Wembley, which could be quite exciting for visiting Gunners fans as the England national team stadium holds 90,000 fans.
