Arsenal fans fearing the worst as trip to the San Siro looms

Arsenal fans are fearing the worst for their side when they make the trip to the San Siro for the first-leg of their Europa League quarter-final tonight.

The Gunners travel to Italy having recently endured three defeats in the space of a week.

Arsene Wenger’s men were beaten 3-0 twice by Manchester City, first in Carabao Cup final last Sunday and subsequently in the Premier League four days later. They then collapsed to 2-1 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium at the weekend.

Milan however, have endured almost complete opposite fortunes as of late.

After a difficult start to the season, Gennaro Gatusso’s side are now unbeaten in ten games in all competitions. In their two most recent fixtures, they beat Serie A title challengers AS Roma 2-0, before beating Lazio on penalties to progress to the final of the Coppa Italia for the second time in three seasons.

Ahead of the trip to Milan, Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac has urged his side to pull out all the stops to help them return to the London with the advantage going into the second leg.

“On Thursday, we fly to Milan. We cannot bury our heads in the sand. We have to look forward and try to do better next time.” he said.

“We definitely want to reach the final in this competition, because you can qualify for the Champions League if you win the Europa League. This should be our goal.”

While Kolasinac’s optimism is admirable however, it seems there aren’t too many Arsenal fans who agree with him …
