Arsenal fans call on France to knock out Uruguay so they can complete Lucas Torreira transfer

Arsenal fans are calling on France to beat Uruguay this afternoon so they finally complete the transfer of Lucas Torreira.

Reports suggest the Gunners are close to completing a deal for the Uruguay midfielder, however will have top wait until after the World Cup to finalise the deal.

Torreira recently rejected a chance to undergo an Arsenal medical, with the Sampdoria star choosing to remain fully focused on his country’s World Cup ambitions.

Uruguay take on France in the competition’s first quarter-final this afternoon.

The 25-year-old’s decision is not expected to impact his impending move to North London however, with his father insisting he will be still joining the Gunners before the new season.

“It is as good as a fact that Lucas will join Arsenal,” Ricardo Torreira told Fox Sports Argentina.

“There are many clubs who contacted us but we have given our word to Arsenal and are very satisfied with what they offered.

“The deal is virtually done and only the arrival of Lucas is remaining.

“Arsenal offered to do the medical examinations in Russia but we decided against it because we felt it’s inconvenient, it is not the right time.”

Arsenal fans however see things a little differently, and don’t want to wait any longer to see Torreira in a red shirt.

No guesses who they are supporting this afternoon …
