Arsenal fans call for club to announce signing of Borussia Dortmund star

Arsenal fans have called for their club to announce the signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Gabon international over the past weeks, and are said to be close to securing a deal after opening talks with Dortmund.

Aubameyang is said to be unhappy in the Bundesliga and would prefer a move to the Premier League.

The former St. Etienne star has scored 21 times this season already in only 23 games, carrying on the good form he showed last season as he finished as the Bundesliga’s top scorer, ahead of Robert Lewandowski by one goal having found the net 31 times.

Arsenal are keen on bringing the Gabonese striker to The Emirates as they look to bolster their attacking options going into the second half of the season.

The Gunners have already signed Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but have in turn seen star man Alexis Sanchez go the other way to Old Trafford, and the club want Aubameyang to help plug the gap left by the departure of the Chile international has been so vital to the club over the past three seasons.

Mkhitaryan arrives in London after a difficult spell at United in which he has made only 11 starts in the Premier League this season for Jose Mourinho’s side – and none since the turn of the year.

A former team-mate of Aubameyang at Dortmund, Arsenal fans will be hoping that the Armenian can recapture the form he showed at the Westfalenstadion where he scored 41 times in 140 appearances.

With Mkhitaryan now officially a Gooner, the fans hope he can help tempt his former pal to North London …
