Borussia Dortmund and Marseille are keen on recruiting Arsenal teenager Ben Cottrell, according to the Sun.
The newspaper reports that the Gunners could lose the 17-year-old with the midfielder yet to sign a professional deal with the London club.
Cottrell is currently a first-year scholar at the club’s academy and foreign teams can snap up the youngster while paying a minimal compensation fee.
Dortmund are likely keen to follow up their success after signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester City last summer. The winger has become a regular fixture in the Bundesliga leader’s first team this season, leading to his first senior England cap against Croatia last month.
Cottrell may see a similar pathway to first-team football by moving abroad. However, he could equally look to Emile Smith Rowe who has broken into Arsenal’s first team under manager Unai Emery this season.
The 18-year-old has already made five senior appearances this campaign, scoring two goals, demonstrating the Gunners’ willingness to give youth a chance.
