Arsenal eyeing sensational replacement for outward bound Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal have identified Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as their number one target to replace the outward bound Alexis Sanchez, reports Sky Sports.

It is widely expected that Sanchez will leave the club this January and where he goes only seems to lead in one direction and that is to the Blue half of Manchester. Of course Sanchez was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the early part of last season and was even linked with a move to join up with Jose Mourinho’s Man United rebuild. If you enjoy betting on premier league games you might well enjoy having a punt on where Alexis Sanchez ends up this January or does he indeed see out his contract with the Gunners.

The Arsenal star was also linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain in the past summer transfer window with the forward reportedly having agreed a contract in principle with the French Ligue 1 giants but of course as we know Arsene Wenger maintained his stance that the player was staying in London and that Arsenal were prepared to have Sanchez leave for nothing at the end of this season.

The Chilean was subject to a £60 million plus bid from Manchester City during the summer, however the deal fell through at the last minute as there was not enough time for Arsenal to bring in a replacement with French starlet Thomas Lemar heavily linked with a move to North London.

City are believed to still be interested in Sanchez however and will more than likely move for him again before the end of the month – especially given the recent injury to star forward Gabriel Jesus, who faces up to two months on the sidelines.

With Sanchez’s contract at The Emirates expiring in the summer, the Gunners must either part ways with their star man this month, or risk losing him on a free come the end of the campaign.

Reports now suggest that any money they coup from the sale of Sanchez will be put to immediate use, in trying to tempt Gabon international and Bundesliga hitman Aubameyang to North London.

The Dortmund star has established himself as one of Europe’s deadliest hitmen over the past few seasons, netting an impressive 141 times in 4-and-a-half seasons with Die Borussen. Last season he finished a the Bundesliga’s top scorer with 31 goals, pipping Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski to the trophy by one goal.

This season he trails the pole by two, having found the net 13 times so far.

Should Arsenal wish to pursue a move for Aubameyang they are likely to have to pay around £63 million for his signature – nearly £20 million more than they paid for current record signing Alexandre Lacazette in the summer.
