Arsenal eyeing £25 million Petr Cech replacement

Arsenal are eyeing up a £25 million summer move for Bayer Leverkusen keeper Bernd Leno as they search for a long-term replacement for current number one Petr Cech.

Cech has been at The Emirates since 2015 when he moved from London rivals Chelsea, and kept his 200th Premier League clean sheet last week when the Gunners beat Watford 3-0.

However now aged 35, Arsene Wenger is on the hunt for a long term replacement for the Czech Republic international.

And the man that has been identified as the successor to Cech’s throne is Bayer Leverkusen’s Bernd Leno.

The 26-year-old keeper has been one of the stand-out shot-stoppers in the Bundesliga this season, keeping eight clean sheets to help his side to as high as fifth in the table.

Capped six times by Germany, Leno is believed to be valued at around £25 million by Leverkusen – a price that Arsenal are reportedly willing to match to bring their man to The Emirates.

The Gunners however will face competition as they try to land their man.

Liverpool are also understood to be interested in Leno as manager Jurgen Klopp is looking to replace both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, as are Napoli who see Leno as a replacement for their own veteran keeper, 35-year-old Pepe Reina.
