Arsenal Plan Summer Swoop For £42.8m Swiss Midfield Maestro By Offering Up Granit Xhaka

Arsenal will look to use wantaway midfielder Granit Xhaka in their bid to secure first refusal on his Swiss international teammate Denis Zakaria, according to the Mirror.

The Gunners signed Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach, and it looks as though they will offer the 27-year-old back to his former club at a reasonable price in order to secure priority on Zakaria.

The Gladbach midfielder has been linked with a number of English clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham but Unai Emery’s side are looking to steal a march on their rivals.

The Mirror report that a return to Germany would “appeal” to Xhaka but any transfer back to his former side would depend on Gladbach’s stance on Zakaria.

The €50m (£42.8m) Rated Swiss star has been in excellent form for the Bundesliga club this season, having helped them top the table after eleven rounds of fixtures. He has scored two goals and provided one assist in 17 appearances.
