Arsenal Eye Inter Milan’s Ausilio For New Technical Director Role

Arsenal have targeted Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio as a possible candidate for their new technical director position, according to reports in Italy.

The Italian’s contract at the Nerazzurri expires at the end of next season, and there have been doubts over his long-term future at the San Siro.

Roma are also said to be targeting Ausilio, although it is believed that the 46-year-old is keen on signing a contract extension with Inter.

The Gunners have been exploring different options to fill the technical director vacancy after losing out on Monchi to Sevilla, while Marc Overmars has decided to stay at Ajax.

Former Barcelona sporting directors Andoni Zubizarreta and Roberto Fernandez have also been tipped as potential candidates but, so far, no frontrunner has emerged.

Ausilio’s track record at Inter for transfers has been patchy with successes including Milan Skriniar and Ivan Perisic as well as flops including Gabigol and Joao Mario.
