Arsenal Eye Free Transfer Swoop For Zenit St Petersburg Ace As They Line Up Lacazette Replacement

Arsenal are interested in Zenit St Petersburg forward Sardar Azmoun, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Iranian international is out of contract at the end of the season and he will be available on a free transfer. With Alexandre Lacazette also likely to leave when his current deal expires in June, it seems the Gunners have already identified a replacement.

Azmoun has been very prolific since moving to Zenit at the start of 2019, scoring 58 goals and providing 20 assists in only 95 appearances for the Russian club.

At 26 years of age, he is also set for his prime years, making him a bargain if Arsenal can sign him without paying a transfer fee next year.

Unsurprisingly, there will be competition for Azmoun’s signature. Serie A giants AC Milan and Roma are both keen to snap up the Iranian as well.

Due to his contract situation, the striker will be able to talk with clubs about a potential move in just under three months’ time.
