Arsenal Eye Cut Price Deal For £5m Rated Swiss Centre Back As Upamecano Alternative

Arsenal are interested in signing FC Basel centre-back Eray Comert, according to Fanatik. The Turkish newspaper reports that the Gunners and Galatasaray will go head to head for the defender.

The Swiss international was actually linked with a £5m move to the Emirates in February last year and it seems the London club’s recruitment team have continued to monitor the player.

Arsenal are likely looking for bargain deals due to the financial impact of the global health crisis, and Comert is probably seen as a cut-price alternative to RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

Other names that are reportedly being considered instead of the Frenchman include the likes of Stade de Reims’ Axel Disasi and Athletic’s Bilbao’s Unai Nunez.

Comert would be the cheapest of the lot, though, but with the centre-half still only 22 years of age, manager Mikel Arteta may feel he can help the player develop and improve into a top-class defender.
