Arsenal Exploring Mandzukic Option?

Arsenal Exploring Mandzukic Option?

The London giants find themselves in a really sticky situation up front with both of their leading men currently on the treatment table. Though first-choice attacker Olivier Giroud’s injury against Newcastle was not a serious one and he is now available having recovered from both the injury and a flu which kept him out vs Cardiff and Tottenham, the Arsenal medical team are fearing worse for Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott is out for at least 6 months.

The Dane went down in pain while clutching his right ankle immediately after scoring in Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Cardiff City and Arsene Wenger will be without Bendtner for about a month if things go well.

With the Walcott injury and the lack of options if Giroud was to go down again may leave Wenger no option but to bring in a striker. The names of Diego Costa and Alvaro Morata have been doing the rounds and the name of Mario Mandzukic has now been added to the possibles list.

The Croatian is currently sharing the goal scoring duty with Thomas Mueller for Bayern Munich, but his role in the team is set to be virtually wiped out after the expected arrival of Robert Lewandowski. He could be starved of game time next season, and the 27-year old might be on the lookout for a new team and the Daily Mail report that Arsenal are closely monitoring this situation and are toying with the idea of making a bid for him in order to bridge the current striking gap at the club.

Can you see Arsenal realistically landing the Munich man this month?
