Arsenal have been locked in discussions with Newcastle over a deal for Debuchy but the deal was in limbo as the Magpies were not interested in selling their first-choice right-back without bringing in a replacement.
They have now bought Netherlands World Cup star Janmaat from Feyenoord to offset the loss of Debuchy. The Frenchman will be confirmed as Arsenal’s second signing of the summer with £10 million sufficient for Newcastle to part ways with the 28-year-old, according to the London Evening Standard.
Debuchy was part of the French World Cup squad which was knocked out at the quarter-final stage by eventual winners Germany. He joined Newcastle in January 2013 from Lille and went on to make 43 league appearances for Newcastle.
The France right-back is a direct replacement for his country teammate Bacary Sagna, who joined Premier League champions Manchester City earlier in the summer.
