Arsenal Down With Key Man Injured

The 24-year old Englishman has enjoyed his best season with Arsenal to date, and has established himself as an important part of the team. Along with French international, Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott has been scoring goals on a regular basis for the Gunners this season.

He was enjoying a good goalscoring run for Arsenal, and then went on international duty with England as the Three Lions resume their World Cup qualification campaign. He then unfortunately suffered a groin injury in training, prior to England’s game against San Marino, a game which they won by an astoundingly easy 8-0 margin. The injury has sidelined him for at least a fortnight. Walcott’s Arsenal team-mate, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, filled in for him, and is set to do so again on Tuesday when they face Montenegro. Walcott is set to sit this game out as well, and watch from the sidelines, before we return to club football at the weekend.

Walcott seems to be slightly cursed when appearing for the national team of late having incurred the nasty chest injury in the opening minutes of the away Sam Marino fixture where Walcott was inexcusable slammed by the San Marino goalkeeper Aldo Simoncini into an unforgiving concrete-lke playing surface causing him to sustain an extreme chest injury which left him having dificulty breathing. Walcott did recover but had to be eased back into action a few games later. Needless to say Theo would have been looking forward to getting his own back on the The Republic of San Marino by banging in a few goals.

Arsenal are set to host Reading at the Emirates Stadium on the 30th of March, and it looks like Wenger will have to do without his influential winger. Walcott will not be able to return from injury for the Reading game, and will most likely still be facing a fight against time to make it for Arsenal’s trip to West Brom on the 6th of April.

The injury to one of Arsenal’s big name stars has come at possibly the worst time, given the fact that they will need all their players fit and in form till the end of the season.

They currently trail London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham for the coveted 4th spot. There is some real hope for them to just make it, given the fact that they have an easier end of season run-in compared to Chelsea and Tottenham, however Walcott’s injury has made their match against Reading just a bit more complicated.

Arsenal will surely be hoping to have their pacy attacker fit at the earliest possible time and let’s hope for a speedy recovery (sorry no pun intended!).
