Arsenal Deserve To Be In The FA Cup Semi-Final

Following Saturday’s morale lifting 4-1 victory against Everton, Arsenal booked their place in the semi-finals of the world’s oldest cup competition. What made things all the more sweeter for the Gunners was the fact that their biggest threat in the competition, Manchester City, were knocked out by holders Wigan Athletic 24 hours later.

Arsenal are now the odds on favorites to go on and lift the FA Cup and end their painful trophy draught. However, some sections of the critics are still complaining about the fact that Arsenal have had it easy in the cup, arguing as all their ties so far have been at home, which has given them an advantage. When Wenger was asked for his reaction on the same, he was quick to point out that despite the home advantage, they have had to overcome tough hurdles in the form of Premier League opposition in every round, as reported by Metro.

Arsenal had to beat the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and now Everton in the last 3 rounds to get to the semi-finals, so there is some credit due to Wenger, who later said, “Since the start of this competition it is true we had a good draw in the fact that we played all the games at home, which is the first time [that this has happened] since I played in the FA Cup.”

“But, on the other hand, we played difficult opponents – Tottenham, Liverpool, Everton – and that shows you we have taken this competition seriously.”

With Arsenal facing Wigan at Wembley in the semi-finals, do you see them go on and clinch the trophy, or will they falter, so close to their goal?
