Arsenal Dealt Setback In Pursuit Of £18m Rated Ramsey Replacement

Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega is unlikely to move to England due to the difficulties of adapting to another league, the player’s father has revealed.

Daniel Banega also confirmed that Arsenal tried to sign the player in the summer but the Argentinian international rejected the move:

“During the World Cup, Arsenal put an offer to him. It is difficult to adapt to other leagues. Ever is comfortable in Seville and he chose to stay. Seville is his home.”

Reports in England suggest that Gunners boss Unai Emery is still keen on a move for the 30-year-old in the January transfer window.

The manager has worked with Banega at both Valencia and Sevilla, and he is currently available at an affordable price with the midfielder having a £18m release clause.

With Aaron Ramsey seemingly on the verge of leaving the Emirates after contract talks broke down, Emery could be looking at one of his former players as a possible replacement.

However, the comments from Banega’s father suggest the Arsenal manager will have to look elsewhere in order to offset the potential departure of the Welsh international.

Ramsey has been linked with moves to Juventus, AC Milan, Manchester United and Chelsea when the transfer window reopens.
