Arsenal Dealt Blow In Search For Sagna Replacement

Arsenal have failed to agree a deal to extend first-choice right-back Bacary Sagna’s contract and the Frenchman confirmed talks with the club did not go according to plan and that he will leave the club this summer after seven seasons with the Gunners.

With Wenger’s own contract situation resolved, the 64-year-old has now prioritized a right-back with the club scouring Europe for replacements. The Gunners have been linked with a move for Serge Aurier but there are apprehensions whether the Toulouse defender can be a capable replacement, according to the Mirror.

Wenger is also targeting a move for Juanfran after failing to sign him last summer. However, Arsenal will have to look elsewhere as Atletico have knocked back Wenger’s approach to sign Juanfran. The right-back was a key figure in Atletico’s run to the Champions League final and their La Liga title win and the Spanish outfit are not to looking to sell.
