Arsenal Dealt Blow As The ‘New Luis Suarez’ Rejects Offer In Favour Of Another Club

Athletico Parananense striker Vitor Roque has turned down a move to Arsenal, according to reports in the Catalan media.

Last month, it was claimed that the Gunners’ sporting director Edu had approached the teenager’s representatives about making the switch to the Emirates.

However, Roque is said to favour a transfer to Barcelona, despite the interest from Mikel Arteta’s side and other Premier League teams such as Chelsea and Newcastle.

It should be pointed out, though, that the La Liga leaders are in financial trouble. Reports suggest that they need to find €150m (£133m) before the summer in order to balance the books.

With that in mind, it would be a surprise if they have the funds to finance a move for Roque. The 17-year-old, who has been compared to a young Luis Suarez, is believed to have a €60m (£53m) release clause.

Considering the interest being shown in the forward, his club are unlikely to let him go below the buyout fee so we shall see how this story unfolds.
