Arsenal Cross Dortmund Star Off Of Transfer List

Seen as one of the most promising players of his generation, Ilkay Gundogan has snubbed transfer rumors linking him to Liverpool and Arsenal. Even though he looked like a great fit for the middle section of the starting eleven and a perfect replacement for Arteta, the 24 year old declared himself a Manchester United fan recently. The German international who dropped in value after a series of unfortunate injuries, is still one player that Wenger could not overlook.

Apparently Gundogan has recovered after his 400 day time-out which was caused by a spinal problem. He is now playing on a regular basis and seems to be back on track. According to the Daily Star, for some reason, the midfielder is dedicated to joining Manchester United even though most say he is a perfect fit for the Gunners. To be fair, he might end up stepping on toes at Emirates considering he tends to be more of an attacking midfielder at times. He is very similar to Ramsey and Wilshere who despite their injuries, still rule the mid-section of the pitch. Add Ozil to the equation and also consider Francis Coquelin and you might understand why no official offer was sent from Wenger to Dortmund.

The German international is now valued at about the same amount of money as Arsenal might pay for Schneiderlin. The 25 year old Frenchman is already adapted to Premier League football and is a lot more defensive than Gundogan which is exactly what the Gunners need.
