Arsenal are “crazy about” signing Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper claims that both the Gunners and Liverpool are interested in snapping up the Italian international, who played a key role as his country won the European Championships earlier this month.
Barella has also been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in recent weeks, but his price tag may put off a lot of clubs, with reports suggesting that Inter could demand around €70m (£60m) for the player.
Arsenal are likely to be looking at the 24-year-old as a potential alternative to James Maddison. Leicester are thought to want at least £60m for the England international and he may turn out to be a more expensive signing.
Barella is more than capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, having made 13 assists in all competitions last season, although he is generally utilised as a number 8 by Inter.
There will also be question marks over whether the Italian would be interested in making the switch to the Emirates, considering he would have to sacrifice playing in the Champions League next season, so we will see if this rumour has any legs.
