Arsenal Could Target Players From Champions League Adversaries, Marseille

Arsenal managed a great win which placed them on top of their Champions League group. Their 2-0 win against French side, Olympique de Marseille not only got them a three point advantage over Dortmund and Napoli but also offered Wenger the chance to analyze some possible transfer targets. With the January transfer window just around the corner, the Gunners will surely be looking to bring in some reinforcements. It is well known that Arsenal’s boss was always been keen on signing talented youngsters. The big difference is that he now has the necessary funds to bring some footballers that were out of the Frenchman’s price range a while back.

According to Metro, Marseille could offer three great options. Even though the French side is currently one of the two teams which could not get a single point during their group campaign, some players still made a great impression. They fit Arsenal’s profile and they could definitely make the step to a big team such as the one at the Emirates.

The first name on the list is Florian Thauvin. The 20 year old was already offered to Wenger in the past but the negotiations failed. Agility and efficiency are what make this youngster a great solution for Arsenal who have a fast paced playing style that can only be carried out by footballers with quick reactions and speed.  Thauvin is now a U21 regular for France for which he has managed to score 5 times in 4 matches.

The second name on the list is Dimitri Payet. The 26 year old who has only played in France until now is a great solution as far as Arsenal’s left and right wings go. He has speed and can cover a lot of ground during a game. He would be useful from both offensive and defensive stances.

The last name on the list is Giannelli Imbula. This 21 year old midfielder is surely going to be one of Europe’s most sought after players.  His playing style resembles that of former Arsenal captain, Patrick Vieira. The Gunners could sure use such a footballer considering Flamini’s performances have not been that consistent during the past few weeks.
