Arsenal Considering Winter Move For Juventus Defender

Wenger is on the lookout for a possible acquisition from Juventus. According to TalkSport, Italian center-back Daniele Rugani will be on the move despite the fact that his contract is only set to expire in 2020. The 21-year-old who impressed while on loan with Empoli and just made his first appearance for Juve is very likely to become a considerable trading asset for the Italian side who will be looking to bring in a backup for Stephan Lichtsteiner. Even if the Swiss defender has returned to the pitch in fine fashion after heart surgery, he still needs someone to back him up in case of any further problems. Currently Juventus have only the 31-year-old in that particular position and a move is definitely a strong possibility.

Arsenal can take advantage of the situation from Torino by selling a player who is rumored to have already packed his bags. Debuchy, who has lost contact with his national squad because of his lack of games, is definitely looking for a change. The Frenchman has had trouble fitting in and lost his spot on the team to Bellerin. His chances of becoming a team regular would increase with Juventus who can use both him and Lichtsteiner on the right side.

Daniele Rugani could be part of the Debuchy deal as Wenger has been eying this center-back for a while now. Some say he can be a great replacement for Mertesacker who has a very similar profile to that of the Italy international. Rumors have it that Juventus are not looking to invest in this youngster and are more likely to sell. It’s good news for Wenger who would get a lot of use from a 21-year-old who grew up learning how to defend from the most defensive Championship in Europe. Exchanging Debuchy for Rugani could be a good trade as Wenger can already count on Bellerin, Chambers and even Gibbs at times for the right back spot. Wenger will need to move swiftly though as Manchester United are reportedly quite interested in the Italian defender and with their spending power and the player valuations they receive from clubs it would be wise for Arsenal to avoid getting into a bidding war with Louis Van Gaal’s side.
