Arsenal Considering £33m Rated Uruguayan Midfield Enforcer As Potential Partey Alternative

Arsenal are one of four clubs interested in Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, according to the Corriere Dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com).

The Italian newspaper claims that the Gunners, along with Chelsea, West Ham and Napoli are keeping tabs on the Uruguayan international.

Nandez reportedly has a €36m (£33m) release clause, which has attracted the interest of other teams, and there is a growing feeling that he will be leaving his current side this summer.

Arsenal may well be looking at potential alternatives to Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, with the Gunners unable to pay the Ghanaian’s €50m (£46m) buyout fee without raising funds.

Nandez would cost only £13m less if the Gunners chose to trigger his release fee but with clubs struggling with the financial impact of the global health crisis, Cagliari may consider selling for below that figure.

Mikel Arteta’s side have also been linked with Porto’s Danilo Pereira in recent weeks. Read our comparison between the Portuguese international and Partey here.
