Arsenal Consider Two New Technical Director Candidates After Monchi Rejection

Arsenal have reacted to Monchi turning down their technical director role by targeting two new candidates for the position, according to reports.

With the Spaniard having joined former side Sevilla, and Marc Overmars having opted to stay at Ajax, Director of Football Raul Sanllehi is now looking at two former Barcelona sporting directors.

Andoni Zubizarreta is currently at Marseille but spent five years at Barca between 2010 and 2015 before being sacked. Robert Fernandez is the other candidate, having also spent three seasons at the Camp Nou as sporting director between 2015 and 2018.

It’s no surprise that Sanllehi has targeted these two, having worked with both of them during his time as Barcelona technical director.

The Gunners have been trying to replace Sven Mislintat who quit the club last month after just over a year in the job. The London club will be hoping to have someone in place soon so they can plan ahead for signings in the summer transfer window.
