Arsenal Consider Re Signing 43.5M Rated Algerian Star Who They Sold For Less Than 1M

Arsenal and Chelsea have both many enquiries about AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com.

The Algerian international was sold by the Gunners for €1m (£870,000) five years ago but he has now become a key player for the Rossoneri.

Bennacer is locked in talks over a contract extension. His current deal expires in 2024 but there is no agreement over a salary, with the player reportedly demanding over €4m a year.

It is believed that the 24-year-old has a €50m (£43.5m) release clause but, due to his contract situation, it’s likely that he could be sold for below that amount.

TMW claims that Milan won’t consider a sale in January so the earliest chance that Arsenal will have to re-sign Bennacer will be at the end of the season. With manager Mikel Arteta needing reinforcements in the middle of the park before then, though, the Gunners may decide to move on to other targets.
