Arsenal Consider Move For PL Club’s THIRD CHOICE Keeper As They Target Ramsdale Alternative

Arsenal are weighing up an offer for Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, according to the Chronicle‘s Chief NUFC writer Lee Ryder.

The Gunners have reportedly withdrawn their interest in Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale after being put off by the Blades’ £35m asking price.

Ryder claims that Woodman has, therefore “returned to the conversation” after discussions were held earlier in the summer, which would have involved the keeper being included in the Magpies’ offer for Joe Willock.

It must be pointed out that, despite the fact Woodman is likely to start for Newcastle against West Ham this afternoon, he is behind both Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow in the pecking order at St James’ Park.

The 24-year-old has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Swansea City, and is only expected to be involved today because of an injury sustained by Dubravka, and the fact that Darlow is still recovering from the effects of the virus.
