Arsenal Consider Approach For Ex Valencia Coach But Face Competition From Premier League Rival

Arsenal are interested in appointing former Valencia head coach Marcelino as their new manager, according to the Daily Mail. The Spaniard was sacked by Los Che in September after falling out with the La Liga club’s owner.

The fact that he is available immediately has reportedly attracted the Gunners, who have a number of candidates that will likely only be available in the summer.

Brendan Rodgers, Carlo Ancelotti and Mikel Arteta are also names that are being considered but unlike those managers, Marcelino would be prepared to take the reins right away.

Arsenal will have a rival if they do decide to move forward and make an approach for the 54-year-old. Everton are also said to be keen on the Spaniard replacing Marco Silva at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have reportedly already made contact to sound him out over whether he is interested in moving to the Premier League. At the moment, neither club have made a genuine attempt to hire him but he is seemingly in contention for both jobs.
