Arsenal Consider £26m Swoop For Ex-Villa Star As Replacement For Ramsey

Arsenal are keeping tabs on Fiorentina midfielder Jordan Veretout, according to reports in France.

The Frenchman previously had a spell with Aston Villa, but his single season with the Midlands club was not very successful as he was loaned out following their relegation to the Championship.

Veretout played just 29 games for the Villans, scoring no goals, before leaving Villa Park at the end of the 2015/16 campaign.

The playmaker’s time in Italy with Fiorentina has, though, proven to be more successful. This campaign, he has scored five goals and provided four assists in 30 appearances.

It is believed that the Gunners are considering the 26-year-old as a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsey who will be leaving for Italy in the summer.

Whether Veretout could be moving in the other direction, we shall have to wait and see. Fiorentina are said to be holding out for a fee of €25m (£21.5m) to €30m (£26m) which could be problematic if reports of Arsenal’s limited transfer budget prove to be correct.
