Wenger might finally make the move on William Carvalho after almost a year of scouting. The Frenchman has been a long-time admirer of the 22 year old who seems to impress season after season. According to the Daily Mail, there is a very big change that Sporting’s player will be joining Arsenal sometime next year. It is still to be seen if the move will take place in January or in June. One thing is for sure though, the Gunners are leading the race for signing the Portuguese international.

Carvalho would be of great help for Arsenal who have 11 players injured. Three of those players have a defensive profile. The 22 year old could replace any player with defensive responsibilities and could also fill in the gap left by Flamini whose form is looking to have dropped consistently in recent times.

Sporting’s midfielder recently admitted that he will come to the Premier League sooner or later. Arsenal and Manchester United are his two possible destinations. Even though he is under contract with the Portuguese side until 2018, it is very hard to believe that he will remain there until the end of the contract.

Carvalho looks perfect for Premier League football. He is aggressive, resembles Alex Song who was amazing while playing for Arsenal. He also has the tackling abilities of a defender and the strength to take on any adversary.  Hopefully Wenger will move soon as the Portuguese player seems to become better with each match and with the way Manchester United are operating in the transfer market these days if they want him they will most likely not be shy about splashing the cash in an attempt to land the player.
