Ivan Toney was left out of Brentford’s squad for their opening Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace. He has had previous interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
The England international didn’t even feature on the bench as he watched the Bees to a 2-1 victory over Palace at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Toney has been subject to a lot of transfer interest over the summer with reports flying around over a move to a Premier League rival. With just over 10 days left in the transfer window, it looks more likely than ever that he could be leaving Brentford.
Thomas Frank’s Ivan Toney transfer hint
Following Brentford’s win over Palace, their manager Thomas Frank was asked about Toney’s absence from the matchday squad.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “There’s a lot of things going on with Ivan, there’s some transfer interest. Because of all that, we decided not to involve him in the squad.
“He’s been a fantastic player for us, but we showed last year especially that we can deal without him.”
Frank confirmed transfer interest in Toney and in response to the striker’s future, he said: “Who knows? There’s interest, but there’s nothing close.”
Saudi Pro League interest in Toney
Sky Sports have reported that Ivan Toney could be on his way to Saudi Arabia with interest from Al Ahli who have made an offer for the 28-year-old but nothing has yet been agreed.
Arsenal have previously shown interest in the striker, alongside Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Brentford could cash in on Ivan Toney this summer before his value decreases as he gets closer to turning 30 in less than two years.
With Arsenal, United and Chelsea wanting to sign a striker before transfer deadline day, a Premier League move could still happen for Toney.
