Arsenal Can Look Forward To Facing Liverpool After Their Loss To Leicester

Arsenal fans will have watched on with glee as fallen Premier League champions Leicester City ran riot against Jurgen Klopp’s Champions League chasing Liverpool on Monday Night Football.

With the Gunners out of action over the weekend, due to their scheduled opponents Southampton facing Manchester United in the EFL Cup final, fans will have been able to savour the moment their top four rivals were put to the sword by Jamie Vardy & Co.

Whilst no one will have been happy to see Tottenham cruise to a 4-0 win over Stoke at White Hart Lane, the result at the King Power shows that things in the Liverpool camp are far from solved after a woeful start to the new year.

The Reds are up next for Arsene Wenger’s side and, whilst the clash is at Anfield, the north Londoners will sense the perfect opportunity to get their season back on track after losses against Watford, Chelsea and Bayern Munich put Wenger under more pressure than ever before.

The break from competitive football could not have come at a better time for the Gunners, as speculation around the manager’s future reached boiling point, with rumours intensifying over new deals for Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

Since the turn of the year Klopp’s side have won just once on home soil, with Southampton, Wolves and Swansea all picking up wins on Merseyside, as well as Plymouth earning a draw.

Furthermore, while Liverpool have a strong run against clubs up the top, they have also been on the wrong end of results against Hull and now Leicester.

With the Reds having lost over the weekend, the Gunners, with a game in hand, can now take control of the Champions League race with a win at Anfield. If reports are to be believed, the key playing staff at The Emirates are keen to see Wenger stay on at the club, therefore if that is so they must use crunch games against the likes of Liverpool to prove that they want to perform for him.

Should they earn a result at Anfield, where now seems to be a better time than ever to do so, the backing from the stands may begin to swing back in favour of the Frenchman and all involved can look to kick on and make a fist of the Premier League run in.
