Arsenal CAN catch Man City despite huge gap

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka says the Gunners can cut the deficit to Premier League leaders Manchester City, and will challenge for the title this season.

Arsenal sit sixth in the league table on 22 points, 12 points behind the pace setters City who remain unbeaten so far this season.

However, despite Arsenal’s rather inconsistent season so far, or rather Manchester City’s rampant start, Xhaka believes that the Gunners will challenge in time.

“I think in football everything is possible,” Xhaka told Sky Sports News.

“Manchester City, at the moment, are on a very good run, they’re doing very well and others have dropped points — which they haven’t done — but it’s conceivable that they could drop points as well.

“They might not continue as they have been. But our aim is just to focus on ourselves. We know we need to work and we’re convinced that we can compete at the top.

“I’m a person who thinks realistically but has dreams and fantasies as well. In football, everything is always possible.”

Arsenal have kept pace with Liverpool following the Spurs win and moved just a point behind their North London rivals.

The Gunners face in-form Burnley in the league next, a game many will agree they should win if they are to be taken seriously for a title challenge. Arsenal will try to back up their superlative win in all departments against an over-matched Tottenham Hotspur team who looked off the pace from the start to the finish of the game last weekend.
