Arsenal have reportedly seen a double bid of £86m for William Carvalho and Gelson Martins rejected by Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese duo are highly sought after players this summer, with clubs like Manchester City and Liverpool keen on signing the pair.

Portuguese publication A Bola had claimed that Manchester United and Manchester City were interested in a move for central midfielder Carvalho, who they have long been admirers of. Young winger Gelson Martins has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, but rumours have quietened since they signed Salah from Roma.

Carvalho is linked with a move away almost every summer, but this window seems like it could be the catalyst for the player to move to a bigger club. Sporting are said to be reluctant to let the holding midfielder go, but if the right offer was made they could be persuaded.

As for Martins, he has burst onto the scenes this year and is hot property, wanted by many. The speedy winger can also operate as a full-back, meaning Arsenal would have plenty of cover should they lose Hector Bellerin to Barcelona.

Arsenal look to have an exciting summer ahead of them, with all manner of players linked with moves to the Emirates – however, in the case of Carvalho and Martins, Sporting are standing firm with their valuations and will look to recuperate a fee closer to £100m.
