REPORT: Arsenal Superstar Given Positive News Regarding Injury Comeback Trail

Arsenal superstar Beth Mead is making strong progress with her injury recovery and should be available for the beginning of the 2023/24 Women’s Super League season, according to a recent report featured on TalkSPORT.

Mead has been out of action for around nine months after tearing her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) last December. As such, she missed out on not only the majority of the WSL season, but also the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Mead has stated that she should be fit and ready to go for the start of the WSL season in September – nothing is set in stone as of yet, but she appears to be confident that she will be available for selection.

How big of a miss was Beth Mead for Arsenal last season?

Losing a star player to injury is always a call for concern – especially when they are in inspired form, like Mead was before being struck down with an ACL issue.

Arsenal were excellent last season, leading admirable campaigns in both the WSL and the Women’s Champions League. Nevertheless, they ended the year in third place in the league – they did win the women’s League Cup, however.

As she suffered her injury in December, Mead missed over half of the season as a result. Not only was she ruled out, but so was Vivianne Miedema, one of the highest-scoring forwards in the history of professional women’s football.

In addition to this, Arsenal also lost the services of both Leah Williamson and captain Kim Little towards the end of the season. Therefore, while the loss of Mead was certainly a damaging one, she wasn’t the only player who the Gunners missed in 2022/23 due to unfortunate circumstances.

What did Beth Mead have to say regarding her recovery from injury?

Speaking on an interview with TalkSPORT, Mead said: “I’m almost there. I’m eight-and-a-half months in to a nine month rehab, so it’s been a long one. It’s been tough, but fingers crossed I should be ready for the start of the season and ready to go. That’s the plan, so fingers crossed it goes to plan.”
